I haven't seen a doctor in a coat in a long time! Not in a medical setting. They are bacteria farms. I believe a lot of hospitals banned them when MRSA showed up. Presumably, doctors' coats (and their pocketsful of non-sterilized stuff) are reservoirs of infection. Lately the working doctors are all in short-sleeved scrubs which can be changed and sterilized easily.

Possibly I saw an older doctor doing the check-in and explanation visits wearing a coat? Maybe? A couple years ago... when Mom fractured her hip.
