I'm serious. I have suffered enough.

HBO has picked up "an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world."

Among the cast is

Manson is Maladie. Committed by her husband (and genuinely unstable), she’s been warped by a power she can’t understand, and tortured by doctors intent on finding its source. She now lives underground, runs a gang and is on an infamous murder spree. She affects a theatrical parody of a bedlam waif, but mad as she is, she’s a woman with a purpose.

I can cope with the impending heat-death of the planet, the rise of fascism, and Bay Area housing prices, but I can't cope with another Goddamn Whedon take on (A) women and (B) adorably insane women.

I saw it at the time. I since blocked most of it. Something, something, violent on screen murder of sex workers?

I saw the thing where he was sleeping with someone on the Buffy cast while he was still married and basically slut shamed the young lady he was cheating on his wife with.

I hope he doesn't strain his arm by patting himself on the back too hard, poor dear.

We're going to see so much of the bedlam waif's bare feet, aren't we?

(The sad thing is, epic sci fi about a superpowered Victorian girl gang is so much my jam it's not even funny. But not with Whedon at the helm.)

When I think about how much I used to love his work, I just want to stab something. Or, I guess, stake something.

I will admit, this is another of those criteria I use when reviewing dating profiles to determine who I wouldn't be compatible with: are they still bitching about the cancellation of Firefly? Then no.

...hon, in the greater Seattle dateshed, this is something that happens multiple times per week.

People ask why I'm not dating and I'm like, it's not that I'm not trying, but when you rule out Whedon stans, guys named Chad, people whose dating profiles are mostly about the Seahawks, people who're holding a fish (or other dead animal), people who live in Renton, people who like books but not by women, vegans (they're not going to want to date me), and people who have no profile pictures that were taken by another human being (and/or are all in the bathroom or their car) there isn't a lot left.

People insist that online dating has made it easier to find someone. My experience is that this could not be further from the truth.

ETA: I didn't even get into the thing where everyone seems to think I will care about their Myers-Briggs results and/or believe that's a system that has any objective validity. Seriously, I think the tech companies are making all their staff do it and everyone believes it's soooo meaningful. It's like the Seattle version of telling people your astrological sign.

It's become one of my disqualifiers. If you're gullible enough to believe in that kind of corporate psychology, you're not going to be rigorous enough for me to find you interesting.

So ... Emilie Autumn? Without the violin, but almost certainly with the drama queen parts?
