This has definitely been a day
Dec. 6th, 2014 02:01 pm1. Long calls to Comcast to determine why they didn't follow up after they found an actual naked-eye-visible physical defect in the line to our house.
2. Long call to UPS about why a package has been sitting at their depot for two days without update.
3. Plugged in sheet-feed scanner to son's computer so I could scan and mail some important legal documents. Scanner decided to install driver. Screen went blank. Now computer won't even boot to BIOS.
4. Loaded computer and legal documents into car.
5. Dropped computer off to be inspected. They'll get back "within 24 hours" i.e. Monday.
6. Spent 15 minutes waiting at FedEx Home (formerly Kinko's) After being ignored by customer service in empty store for a long time, eventually got attention of staff. Pulled out stack of papers needing scanning. "You need to remove the staple." Slow walk to desk to get staple remover, which he then handed me. "That'll be 89 cents a page."

Drove home, will plug Scanner of Death into laptop and hope for best. Started trying to debug broken doorbell with multimeter, decided not to tempt Fate.
