WE HAVE REGISTRATION!
Aug. 23rd, 2019 04:18 pmMy son's car now has California plates and a California registration in the glovebox.
Holy cow. He took possession of that car July 17, 2018 (a number I know because I have filled it in to so so many damn forms.) All the months since then have been spent either waiting for my mother to execute forms on her end, waiting for DMV appointments, being denied at the DMV, waiting for Indiana BMV appointments, being denied at the BMV, getting duplicate titles, waiting for paperwork to wing here, there, and thither. It's been 13 months of anxiety.
It's done. The damn thing is registered. That's currently my longest-running worry. Shutting the gates of my mind to all the worries that think they deserve promotion.

Date: 2019-08-24 03:20 am (UTC)The remaining worry was that I had a packet of forms that the previous DMV clerk had stapled together with a warning that I was NEVER TO REMOVE THE STAPLES or the fees we had paid would be forfeit. And at the front of the sheaf was a notice that the registration would only be complete if we brought a smog test (easy) or letters testimentary which have to do with estates and there is no estate involved and therefore no such letters can be produced.
I was terrified we'd run into that clerk again, and she'd insist that even though we now had signatures we didn't have the letters testamentary which were specifically called out on the form.
We got a different clerk. She basically nosed through the forms, asked if [Mom's name] had really signed it, we said yes, then she typed some things into her computer and handed us the registration.
I nearly kissed her.
